As per approved regulations of Gauhati University, a candidate possessing at least 50% marks of the aggregate in BA/B.Sc/B.Com.(10+2+3 pattern)or MA/M.Sc/M.Com. Examination of a recognised university is eligible for the B Ed. Programme, provided the applicant has offered at least two school subjects of the first or second degree level. However, there is relaxation of 5% marks for the candidates belonging to ST/SC/OBC/MOBC.



35 seats will be reserved for constituent States of NE Region, i.e. 5 seats each for every state of NE Region, viz Meghalaya, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim. However, this reservation is subject to the approval of the university authority. The reservation for SC/ST/OBC/MOBC shall be as per prescribed rules of the Govt. of Assam.

Every admitted candidate, apart from Gauhati University, shall have to register under Gauhati University. For such registration, students from any recognized University other than Gauhati University shall have to produce Migration Certificate within one month of admission. In case of failure to produce such Migration Certificate from their last University, students shall not be allowed to appear in the final B.Ed examination.

THE REGULATIONS FOR BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (As prescribed by Gauhati University)

The regulation for conducting B.Ed Programme as prescribed by Gauhati University has been summarised as follows:

Candidate may be admitted to the Bachelor of Education (B Ed) Examination provided after the BA, BSc., B.Com Examination of this University or any other University recognised for this purpose, he/she in a college affiliated to this university for this purpose, and has in addition, undergoes a course of practical training as indicated below.
A graduate in 10+2+3 pattern of Gauhati University or institution recognised by G.U. may be admitted to the B Ed course on merit basis.

The Gauhati University has prescribed specific Rules and Regulation for conducting 1-yr full-time BEd. Programme. The university usually permits admission of the students to the B Ed programme only after obtaining statutory recognition from the NCTE by the College concerned. The University does not allow admission to the BEd. Programme in any College unless and until the College is recognised by the NCTE.



Regular periodical Terminal & Test examinations are conducted by the College. The attendance in such Terminal & Test examinations is compulsory.




A student registered for B.Ed programme of Gauhati University is required to have a minimum 80% attendance of the total lectures delivered in each subject. As per regulations of Gauhati University, the student who fail to attend 65% of classes in aggregate in attendance of all subjects shall be declared as dis-collegiate and shall not be eligible to appear in the final B. Ed examination.
